The devices incorporate a safety lock-out feature that protects against mis-wired line-load connections that can cause damage to the GFCI circuitry. In addition to being tested to the highest standards to help ensure safety, GFCIs will deny power and prevent re-setting if the device is no longer able to provide safe, protected power.
